Background
 |

While teaching a graduate course on “Leadership in the Virtual Workplace,” Debra covered topics related to the history, meaning, and evolution of work, as well as issues such as overwork, over-access, and over-connectedness in the digital age. During this section, she asked students, all of whom were experienced workers actively employed across a variety of occupations and industries, to undertake a little research project. Their assignment one week was to find three people under the age of 10 and to ask them why it’s good to not work too much. Debra also surveyed children in schools, daycare programs and camps to ask the same question. “Working Too Much Can Make You Grumpy” is the collective wisdom gathered from these surveys and interviews.
